Sustainability at the Team Conference

At ORE Catapult, sustainability is extremely important to all that we do. In order to ensure we are staying true to our values, we have taken the following steps to ensure sustainability at the conference.

Food:

Throughout the Team Conference, various efforts have been made in order to reduce the carbon footprint associated with food, drink and catering in general. A buffet lunch will be provided which will be entirely vegetarian to reduce our carbon emissions associated with the event. For the evening meal, meat options will be made available via the pre-order form. Additional steps have been taken to ensure our approach to catering at the event is as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible:

  1. Reduced food waste - Where possible we are utilizing every part of the ingredients to reduce any and all waste. For example, the roasted pumpkin soup dish will seek to reuse the pumpkin seeds as garnish for the dish after roasting and puréeing.

  1. Kept it seasonal - We have used seasonal fruit and vegetables in all dishes.

  1. More vegan and vegetarian options - As agreed both conference lunches are all vegan/vegetarian. The dinner does have meat options, however, they are locally sourced from Warren Butterworths.

  1. Be adaptable - These are bespoke menus tailored to your needs and preferences.

  1. Limit the number of ingredients - We have limited the number of ingredients and taken steps to ensure common ingredients are utilised in many dishes and repurposed those usually thrown away.

  1. Buying locally - We have sourced and supported local farms and producers. Examples include Chain Bridge honey, Leeks from Dungaits in Morpeth, Black Garlic foraged from Jesmond Denes, Herbs grown in our small herb patch & Ice cream from Doddington's.

  1. Sustainable Suppliers - For example, all of the potato produce we purchase will be supplied by Particularly Good Potatoes in Wooler (well-known locally for the sustainable farming methods).

Travel:

We encourage everyone to travel in as environmentally friendly a manner as possible, whilst we accept there are some cases where this simply cannot be accommodated, every effort is made to support this effort.
